it looks like he'll be looking for work soon.
the guy who plays 'Gil Grissom' wants to leave CSI because he doesn't like the idea of all these spin-off shows
(CSI new york is coming next)
http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,591819_3_0_,00.html

he made his career from emulating captain kirk as Gil Grissom
(one of the reasons I like the character)

--> since his gig on CSI is almost up..
wouldn't this guy make the best 'star trek' captain since Sisko?  :p

they should scrap the 'Kirk and Spock meet in preschool' script,
and do a galactica-style "remimagining" with this guy as James T. Kirk.

I'd hit it.

-============-

p.s: I read somewhere that when he finally does leave the show, they're going to do a story arc where Grissom is a serial killer responsible for all the unsolved cases they've had over 5 seasons, and his team eventually gets 'good enough' that they solve it and put him behind bars.. and thats like their final test that says they've learned enough to replace him.  he did it all for the sake of teaching them the ropes.  etc.  and he goes to jail knowing that his little CSI office is (finally) in good hands. heh

I dunno.  He'd have to show more emotion and I haven't seen him do enough emotional stuff to really say.

What do you mean?  There already is a CSI:NY.

My sister really likes his character.  She'll be sad to see him go... And I know she'd freak out if they did end it like you said... Though I really can't see that happening.

They need to do a CSI or L&O in Chicago. (Preferably L&O)  Come on, man, we need something.  This place is like the murder capital of the US anyway, isn't it?  Jerks.

hmm. the article said 'coming this fall' (I guess they meant last month) :P either way I haven't seen it.  I don't watch the miami one either. but I do like the original. I catch it when I can

and I think that would be an awesome way to end his character.  :p  they could play the 'vigilante' angle and then throw his ass in jail.  nobody would see it coming.
(and it would make a great lead-in to future movies. where 'teh team' needs his help and they have to go get him out of jail on a day pass or something ..and/or.. he escapes from jail and Our Heroes have to track him down --> pit the protagonists of the TV show against each other.  make the audience sympathise with both sides)

Ack!  The canon whining and winge-ing would go on for years.  :s6:

He would make a passable Kirk... but why?  I don't see the need to rehash or hash.

Nah, if they do a "Jim Henson's Star Trek Babies," Kirk would have to be much younger. Hence the rumored SF Academy storyline. And Peterson is just not the action hero type. I don't even think I've ever seen him run on CSI. But I'm all for a re-imagining. As long as they don't just copy BSG, and go all hardcore. Roddenberry would roll in his grave.

And that article appears to be kinda old. This is already the second season of CSI: NY.

CSI: NY is an American police procedural television series which premiered on September 22, 2004.

Sooo... that article is 2 years old.  Also they're on episode 146 and Grisom is still there.

I don't like characters like Grissom who are never wrong and who know everything. Its the same as the guy in Law and Order Criminal Intent.
