My computer has had some serious problems in the last month.  My powersupply fried and now my SATA drive is toast.  When I boot up it takes forever or just gives me an error... I think I am going to get a 10,000 16mb raptor drive, because they rock, and hopefully they will fix the problem.  Any ideas?

Neelix Should Be Fraged, wow I haven't seen your internet personality in a while. A long while.

Before installing a new drive in to your computer, make sure that your computer is not at fault, or you will end up frying just another drive. Whose SATA HDD did you use?

Does you computer ever freeze during gameplay?
Ever randomly restart?

Is this a new install of Windows or an existing install which survived the carnage? I'm going toa ssume new, but I dont know if you have more then one hdd or RAID enabled...

Anyway, if you feel like formatting, do a FULL NTFS format, not a quick one, this will check the physical disk for errors if there are any.

If this is an existing Windows partition you want to preserve, shut off System Restore, disable Hibernation and disable your Page File, reboot and then turn them all back on, that normally clears up most slow boot issues I've seen.

Yea, I am always snooping around these boards and only rarely post lest it is something really important, like terrible computer problems.  Well, I got a new Seagate SATAdrive because I am sick on my Western Digitals falling apart... anyway, I got a nice Singapore one, not those evil china made ones.  I installed it and the computer is now running fine.

So... I had to replace my hard drive and powersupply recently and I think it is because of how many times I shutdown and powerup... I am just going to leave my rig running 24/7, no luck at overheating with my airflow... what you'll think?

You're better leaving it on, at my company our server are (obiously) on 24/7 and our biggest time for when HDDs and other equipment fails is during the reboot cycle once every 3 months, ya let the drive spin down and some start locking up or worse.
