That's certainly no secret.  Products made by hemp (including ropes) are freely available.

its also illegal in the states to grow your own tobacco.  you need a liscence from the federal government if you want to produce tobacco. same with canada.

and the only people who are allowed to grow tobacco, are the ones who lobbied the government for social controls (ie: big business)

--> most of these "nanny state" laws that we think are in place to protect everybody's children are, actually, rooted in economic policy not social policy.



ie: the government doesn't want farmers growing tobacco..

.. NOT because their kids might smoke it without getting "carded" at the local 7-11 thus escaping the controls on this dangerous "controlled substance"..

..but because the "Big Business" tobacco producers want a monopoly on production so the individual farmer, himself, has to pay $6 per pack.  

(it has nothing to do with the farmer's children; it has everything to do with the farmer's pocketbook; protecting their own monopoly; etc)
