The fact is 99.9% of guys who DO all the stuff he goes on about in the song ARE white.

But whatever. You wouldn't complain if it was a black guy making fun of himself would you? That wouldn't fit in with the apparent horrible mistreatment of whites in today's society

maybe I'm just biased.   I'll never forgive him for "Eat it".

Weird Al is white and nerdy, he made a song about a white and nerdy guy. It's no big deal, really.

Not every song has a deep and meaningful intent, especially songs by the likes of Weird Al. For the most part he's a non-serious artist who makes music that people laugh at or finds irony in.

I very much doubt that people are going to hear this song and take it as some sort of representation of a whole race.

You are perfectly within your rights to do so. Won't stop people from accusing you of being racist etc. The point is, whatever race can make fun of their own without too many people batting an eyelid. When you start targetting different races, it becomes more sensitive. It's not exclusive to whites bashing themselves.

like I said the offspring had a song where they make fun of their own race, as well.
but the offspring song uses Race as a dividing line to define what is "cool"; wierd al uses Race to define what is "uncool"
one is a positive message about blacks and one is a negative message about whites.  
one is construcive, the other is destructive.

its not JUST about white people bashing themselves (which is unhealthy to begin with);  
its the way its done that makes it offensive (or not as the case may be).

see what I did there?   its an entirely different post* if I come straight out and said "Weird Al Sucks Ass" (but the message is basically the same).
