Ok!  First time this thing happened to me.  It's on my PC at work.  I added a new HD this morning (160g Maxtor IDE).  It'll be use as a slave.  My primary drive is a WD SATA 200g.

Problem is that Windows XP doesn't see the drive at all.  It's plugged correctly and the BIOS sees it just fine.

Tried a bunch of things to no avail, like "Add New Hardware", etc....  Updated the Nforce drivers.... etc...

Any help would be appreciated... thx!

I'm not sure if you can put a IDE drive on a computer that has a SATA HD on it.

Did you use MaxBlast software provided by Maxtor?  I used it to install/format my 120g Maxtor hdd (slave).  It works fine with WinXP.

Yep!  One of the 1st thing I did...  MaxBlast didn't see the drive either in XP....  It did find it with the bootdisk tho...

Just for refrence, should you have future SATA problems, try _removing_ the nForce drivers, they're a well-known trouble maker.  I had to do just this to make my first SATA drive work.

Well, it was an IDE drive...  An old one I had in my home PC.  I don't know what BIOS setting was interferring.  Anyway, I did have some problems, at home, when I tried to installed my 2nd SATA drive (200g) at home...  I wanted to use it as the "master" but everytime it rebooted after format/copying files the PC would say that there was no system (or something like that).  I had to go to the Maxtor site to figure out I needed to installed some 3rd party drivers during the very beginning of the process (Press F6 if you want to...).  The info was hard to find too...
