I decided to buy a GPS mouse today, since I have a laptop and MS Streets & Trips.

I found one that got really good reviews, and was supposed to be really easy to use and good quality.

There was a guy selling a whole bunch of them on Ebay. (PowerSeller, 1yr warranty, returns accepted, good stuff)

I must've lost like 5 auctions.  I finally won this one by getting my bid in with like 5 secs to spare.  And, it ended cheaper than all the auctions I'd lost.  W/ shipping, I'm getting the thing for ~$48.  Cheapest in stores in via Amazon Marketplace for $56.  Most other stores charge at least $70.  Sure, it's not huge savings, but it's something.  And at least I can bask in the joy of victory.

Congradulations.  First E-Bay auctions.  Then... THE WORLD!

They make GPS mouse?  Gee!   How cool is that...  Probably working with Location Finder in Streets and Trips...

Anyway, congrats...  Got a link btw?  I'm curious about it...

Ebay search for it: http://search.ebay.com/search....egory0=

It's just a little thing that plugs into the USB.  All the reviews say it works prefectly w/ MS S&T.  It's not just location finder, but it'll update as you go... and apparently S&T will give voice directions as well...  We'll have to see what that's like.  Either way, software is easy to get.  It's the hardware that's the trouble.

So any thoughts on what kind of wild and crazy stuff I can do w/ a laptop (too slow to run Google Earth well, unfortunately) and a GPS receiver?

Apparently it's pretty common.  You can even buy a copy of MS S&T or MapPoint that comes w/ a GPS mouse.

You could try geocaching but I'm not sure how that would go with a laptop gps.
