Can someone show me how to write some kind of logon script that will automatically update each workstation's printer folder w/ the printers installed and shared on the server? (on a Server2000 dormain)

Yeah, but I wasn't thinking so much network security as getting your laptop stolen and having no protection on any of your personal data.

Yeah I worry bout that too sometimes..

but cant you buy a lock for most laptops and lock it so that it wont boot up unless you have the key?

Oh, sorry.  The clients are all running either WinXP Pro SP2 or 2k SP4

This is, I believe, the only way to do it via a batch file.  (eg, build a batch file, put in the NETLOGON share on your domain controller, add the batch file name - without path - to the "login script" section of the "Profile" tab in the user's domain account).

Frankly, it's a bit of a pain to do it that way.  We've found it works pretty well for users to just go to Start > Run and type \\servername\printer (or just \\servername, browse to the printer name, and double-click) as needed, which adds the printer to the machine automatically (assuming your server is pushing drivers properly).

Well, normally when I install a new printer or whatever, I just open up the server and drag the printer to each PC's printer folder.  But I was just thinking of the times I've had to rename the printers, and had to go through and do that for all the PCs on the domain.  I was hoping there'd be an easier, automatic way.
