I love Quake 4, but I am starting to get really afraid of the possibility that there might not be any expansion.

The Doom 3 expansion was announced a couple of months after the release of Doom 3.  Most other games receive announcement of an expansion after 2-4 months or so after their release.

Why not Quake 4?

Considering there is a "to be continued" ending of the game (well it was STRONGLY implied), you would think Raven would announce an expansion or at least defer that responsibility to Id or Splash Damage ,etc  I.e any company that has previously done a quake expansion.

So is my (and millions of others) worrying unfounded?

Any input on this from Raven would be greatly appreciated.

That'd be Ritual Entertainment, who created the content that was included in the 1.3 point release. This is what remains of the expansion pack after it was cancelled.

i would supose splash damage is busy with ETQuake Wars, i sure hope so anyway

I'd rather ask the question why shoud Q4 have an expansion. Its SP is fun enough. What it was originally short of is MP, which needs map-packs more than expansions.

Well, I'm liittle afraid if the SP ending implies a sequal. It's a formula that these shooting heroes are too busy to have a rest. So it turns out to be so common if they would receive a new mission after they complete the current one. Though I'd be still happy if there is a Quake 5 or something else to continue with the fun.

compared to Q3 the imput of fanmade maps seems very low...

I didnt know Raven, Ritual, Spashdamage were like a big family no wonder Q4 was off one set deved quake wars and the other deved Q4 ,I really wanted a great new Quake game ;_;


Q4 floped? can you give me Sales numbers or somthing from what I have seen its doing "ok".

Frankly SP side is lacking and wel so is MP side if they could add a shorter SP  campaign  yet revamp the weapons rebalance them to be ture upgraded weapons from Q2 and Q3 add a item belt,then revamp the MP side with more maps and types and use more models but if they did that it might take from quake wars and I dout they'd be willing do it...sometimes I wonder if QW was the reason why not alot was put into Q4,Q4 is way to simple and bland and comeing from a great dev like Raven...*sigh*

The reason D3 got such a quick XP is becuse its doom and sold better than Q4,altho I have a ton of issues with D3 have not bothered with the XP yet....

Looks like for the same reason there will be no XBOX 360 patch for the horrible framerate/online bugs/crashing.  Really makes me mad I wasted $60 on this game
