I've got a friend who is venturing for the first time into the world of computing. We're trying to help them along as best we can but they live several states away so it's kinda hard.
as of now they're not on the internet but they're heading that way.
Need to give them avast, adaware, spybot etc. but to make it easy on them we want to make a CD with an autorun executable so they could easily install these things.

But I don't know how to do that, I know it's possible but outside of that I'm lost.

Can yall knowlegable folk enlighten me?

If they can't figure out how to open a CD and double click some icons, they shouldn't be 'computing.'

Seriously, that should be the first lesson.

True, never the less this the current situation.

The Majority of people who use computers and are active on the internet should not be allowed to even touch a PC.
Heck, how else do you think AOL could get so popular. :D

i think you should look into the batch "language", asuming he's running windows. Just google it and you will find tons of hits.

Can batch language be autorun at the reading of a CD?

Even then, they will need to setup the different info needed to install all those.

I think you should start with Lesson 1 : Opening a CD and installing something.

You could probably create some kind of autoplay-flash that'd throw-up a nice menu with choices and such...depending on your flash skills.

I used THIS PROGRAM a while back.  Works really well.  You put everything in the Menu and they just have to click on the items they want to install...

Look, it's very simple.  Tell them to take said CD out one at a time, put it in, and follow the instructions.  There should be a manual to help clarify things.
However if they are unable to do this, then they should not be on the internet and should play around with everything else first to learn it.
