for me it is absolutely inconcivable that somebody doesnt know how to work a computer running a windows 98+ OS...

Well if they don't know, then their brain just doesn't work like that. It all makes sense to us, but we're used to it.

Simple auto-run solution:
HTML

Open an HTML file via Autorun that has links he can click on to start the installs and even a short set of instructions. He should also be able to get the drive letter with JS.

Seriously, they're probably not going to be able to go through the install wizard, much less actually use the program if they can't handle opening a CD and double clicking on some icons.

Basically "autorun" just means Windows is looking for an "autorun.inf" file in the root of the disc (usually pointing to a setup or install executable).  See here.

Sandman's solution may be the easiest, however.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?  I'm confused.

Both accually. I think they would probebly be able to get past the install but past that, they probebly stand no chance

Installrite
I've used this in the past. Though I wouldn't have the software already installed when using it. I've always used it in a virtual machine. Run the analyzer to create a profile, install the program(s) of choice, run the compare analyzer and create a self contained installer executable of the software.
