I know i'm going against common opinion of him by saying this;but I think he's the best writer/director of our time. I just got back from Lady in the Water and, like all of his other films, it blew my expectations out of the water. Nothing in any Shyamalan movie is there by mistake; his attention to detail is nothing less than stellar. I wasn't originally a huge fan of The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable but Signs opened my eyes to how truly unbelieveable Shyamalan's directing is, and now in retrospect, Unbreakable has become one of my favorite movies as well.

Well, now i'm ranting. I guess my whole point is; you should go see Lady in the Water if you want to see a nice, inspirational film. It's not a realistic film or a scary horror film, but it's a nice, optimistic fantasy story. I highly recommend it.

I really liked unbreakable but signs was a bit iffy. I do want to see lady in the water. How you describe it supprises me since the commercials make it out to be an intense horror type thing.

Yeah, Night is great. His movies are really something. Signs is my personal favorite, The Village being my second favorite.

I actually like unbreakable the best, I thought anything after that was terrible and a waste of time/money.  I really enjoy the cinematography, acting, and art direction, but his story lines are terrible.... His movies are too perdictible and the plots have more holes then swiss cheese.  Lady In The Water was terrible, it looked really nice and the creatures were cool, but I thought it got away from the story in the beginning... I also hate it when directors cast themselves as one of the biggest roles in the movie, I don't care for Mr. M Night anymore.

Sixth Sense was stupid.  I knew from the first scene that Bruce Willis was dead.  and of course from the trailers I knew going into it that the whole movie was about "I see dead people".

so THAT's the Big Plot Twist :old8: it happens ten minutes into the movie.  *yawn*

my wife leaned over to me after Bruce Willis got shot and said "waitaminute...he survived"?
I said.  " nah :  I see dead people"

^^ and that was the whole movie (!!)

--------------

unbreakable was OK,  but only because I got off on the "comic-book" content presented in every one of Jackson's monologues.

at its heart .. its a Comic Book Super Hero Action Movie .. but WITHOUT the "action".
by the end of the film, its like, Yeah.   we get it.  No action.  just to make a point. *yawn*
(is it over yet?)

He's "a'ight" but hardly the best.  There are a handful of directors who have only one or no bad movies to their name.  Shyamalan has made some decent movies, but he can't even hold a candle to Kubrick, Hitchcock or Kurosawa.

Of course you did.

Ok, anybody want to take a vote on whether they thought Cobalt would say he 'knew it the whole time'?  :p
