Ok after playing SOF2 for about 5 yrs now and tired of waiting on SOF3. What FPS game should I look into for a new past time for some head shots and a few knife stabbings when I sneak up on a camper..

I honestly have only been playing SOF2, SWG (mmorpg) and AOE3.

Give me some feedback on what are the good FPS SOF style games out there today.

Lastly, yes I did try BF2 and it was gay!

I recognize what you're going through right there, did it myself a few months ago.. I switched to mainly playing CS: Source and some COD2 .. but its like the gameplay in those 2 tires one quickly compared to SoF2, so I found myself returning back to sof faster than you could say likeomfgwtfhax?.. lol
I still play em though, I like some variation in what I play.. not just play one game, some variation is good, it keeps the games exciting and last longer
still I find sof2 the most fun, maybe 'cause the variation is to find in the game itself

I found cod2 to be pretty close to sof2 gameplay. Certainly alot closer to sof2 than anything else including cs:s. Cs:s and COD2 are both games I enjoy playing. I go back and forth between the 2. If you loved sof2 for it's simplicity and ease of play don't waste your money on Battlefield 2. If you don't like elimination gametypes like dem or inf, don't play cs:s. Counterstrike is similar to sof2 in the weapon selection, but don't think you'll be running and gunning like sof2.

COD2 is easier to learn than cs:s, and has some decent CTF... but you wont feel right at home. You'll need to get used to the iron scopes and crosshair.

I did indeed love the game. It's the first game that I really got REALLY involved in. I started playing with Doom And Quake 1 & 2 & 3, sof1, UT. But I got broadband internet with sof2 so it was really the first game I got seriously involved with.. hence the love of the game.

I still occasionally play (When I feel like causing some havok) but sof2 has really lost it's appeal. I can only play Jordon + Shop2 so many times. (occasionally someone switches to Kam5).

TO bad there isn't more "news" to post. It seemed like there were some really interesting things for a while... then nothing.

I still play sof2 + making my own mod (pretty cool huh?   ) but i do play other games too. The moments were i played sof2 day and night are long gone... Still is the best fps there is...

I play sof2 and bf2 online. But the fact that bf2 bores me after a small amount of time, makes me fall back to sof2 again, and I've been playing sof2 online since 2002.

I also have hl2:dm and cs:s installed, but i never play those, they are in fact boring games.

Well the prob is: Which game does ever come near sof?
I tried cs:s and lost interest for the reasons peeps already described
BF2 is just too huge and I dont like the aspect of cars, tanks and bombers.
UT series hm was fun for a starter but too much like a comic action strip.
CoD is too slow and I h8 the settings and old guns - where is my ak?
Furthermore in CoD nobody talks even if someone does the font is so small that it is barely even noticed.

I just would like a shooter with different mods like dm.ctf,demo,elim,inf etc but a simple man vs man shooter with decent realistic nowaday weapons and fluent gameplay. Is it really 2 much to wish for?

I hear of something called Project Parabellum... but that turns out to be another CS-Clone

I think they will make another series of SOF but only after RTCW2.

As long it would be really cool if they would give out the source code for SOF2 and let the community fix it. But this doesnt seem to happen soon.
