the right wing conservative government of Alberta, which I voted for btw, posted another record surplus this year. shrug* * try cramming that into the "left wing" pigeonhole carved out for me

What they don't tell you is that the defecit trends show that it will be wiped out by '09 if things continue the way they are. You can blame Bush for creating the defecit if you wish, but once it's gone, you can thank his tax cuts for eliminating it. (Creating jobs all along the way)

ahem... http://www.globalpolicy.org/socecon....cit.htm The trend shows what now? Granted, 2005 shows only -318 billion, up from -413 billion, but I'll wait for 2006 to be tallied up before asserting any kind of upward trend. And I'd like to make a point: The deficit went down from 1993-2000 and then went right back up from 2001-2004.

I'm saying that the trends show that the defecit is SHRINKING. The Bush tax cuts, if 'un-fooled-around-with' should have the defecit gone by '09.
