Want to get some various songs, so I don't really need to buy an entire CD just to get the one song I want.  Anyone have any experience with Napster or any other similar sites?  Seems to have an option to pay a fixed fee for unlimited downloads for a month ($10/$15).  Figured I could do that for a month, get what I need and quit.

Anyone know if they're limiting their mp3's in any way.  Adding DRM crap to not allow me to make a CD with them?.  Reducing the sound quality to dismal levels? etc...

I get music from this Russian site called 'Allofmp3.'  If you do the research, it is legal, though that's due to technicalities and loopholes...  Still, if the RIAA could have shut it down, they would have already.  It's been going for a while.  And though it's based in Russia, the payments are secure.  No one has ever reported trouble w/ their CCs because of it.
Now for the features:
- No DRM on the mp3s.  Nothing at all.  It's a normal MP3 you can do whatever the heck you want with.
- Cost is about $0.02 (American) a megabyte.  That's right. Your average song is going to be around $0.08!
- It's not just MP3.  They offer a bunch of other encoding options like OGG, WMA, etc.  And for the MP3s, you can even choose your bitrate!

Just a great service altogether.  Gotta love Soviet-era Russian copyright law. :p

I also use, enjoy and can recommend http://allofmp3.com/.  They have a great pricing scheme and no C.R.A.P..

I should have mentioned that when you stop paying Napster's subscription fee, you can no longer access/play your music.
