No that's not a typo.  You'll get it once you read my story....

So I'm sitting at my desk this afternoon, struggling to get my paper finished before class tonight.  My phone rings and the caller ID says it's some weird number from out of state.  I figure I'll answer it anyway, as I do know a few people in other states.  This lady asks to talk to me by name, then asks if she has the right email address listed for me.  Once I say yes, she says, "Congratulations!  You entered a contest for a 2006 Escalade, and the computer picked your name!"  I'm shocked, because no one actually wins those free car giveaways, then she assures me that I did win the car.  She just needs to confirm the rest of my information.  First question, am I between the ages of 25 and 76, as her paper says?  No, I just turned 23.  "Oh" she says.  "Well in that case we'll be redrawing at the end of the month.  If your name is selected again, we'll contact you.  Congratulations once again!"  Congratulations again?  For what?!  You just got me all excited with a free car and then took it away!

Today is just not my day....

#### kids... entering contests they can't win.

Too bad.  If it's any consolation, you'd probably have to pay the sales tax on the Escalade in order to bring it home from the dealer.   I've heard of someone winning a car and they could not afford the tax.  They ended up selling it "back" to the dealer for like half the price.  You get some cash but the real winner is the dealer.   They get to sell a new Escalade twice.

I have never heard of that age split.

Usually its 18 or 21.

Are you sure you weren't emotionally scammed.

  What is that from?  Stargate?

Ever since I was a little kid I've made sure that I'm elegible for whatever contest I'm entering, so it really bothers me that somehow I either forgot to check for this one contest or they screwed up when entering me.  Bah!

I have herd of cases where they don’t give away the car but a 1 year leases to a car.

I am now reminded why I never enter things like that. They just get worce and worce

It's probably so you can get insurance as an adult.  In Maryland, at least, the age was 25.
