Hey.

Since I installed the 1.2 point release the sound stutters while playing MP.
I did update all my drivers but nothing helped out.

My system:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe with Soundstorm onboard audio
GeForce 6600GT
1024 MB DDR

Any game exept Quake 4 runs perfectly.

Can anyone please help me to solve that problem?
I´d really like to play Quake 4 again, but with this problem its unplayable :/
The sound stutters only while playing MP.

Thank you!

No answers to my question?
I´d like to throw that f***ing game out of my window because NOTHING can solve that problem.

I can´t even sell my copy of Quake 4 because nobody wants to play the game!

Hurry up, we need the next point release.
I hope that will solve my problem... obviously noone else can do it.

Given your CPU is close to the minimum spec and you're using onboard sound, I'm guessing its struggling to keep up a bit. You might find that lowering s_maxChannelsMixed will help, or maybe lowering s_maxSoundsPerShader (although I'm not 100% sure on the implications of that).

You say it happens in MP - are you saying that in SP you dont have this problem? Have you tried running with q4max, with vertex lighting enabled (r_vertexlight 1, or via the menus)? If its CPU speed thats the problem, this will almost certainly help. Play q4max anyway, cos it'll be a much smoother experience ;)

Hey.

In SP I don´t have that problem.
Before I installed the latest patch everything worked fine.
I tried playing Q4Max but that didn´t make any difference regarding the sound-stuttering.
