I think we can agree in the case of terrorism, the more serious crime is actually "doing it"  (so to speak).

The problem is, we cannot allow them to 'do it'.  I see what you are saying, and I agree that this is not the ground-breaking *win* that it was sold to be in the moments after the arrests were made.  I even made the case to my friends that this was little more than if the group of us decided we wanted to do some nefarious deed but had no clue (or resources) with which to do it.

I don't believe this was a 'we just stopped "9/11: Part Two"' type deal.

ugh, no I wasn't.

I was making a point that you shouldn't  have to wait until the act of pedophilia or the act of terrorism is being committed to do something about it.  And by law you don't.

That is why you have FEDS doing chat room stings.

They agree to meet the potential pedophile and catch them for showing up.

In the the case of prostitution they arrest you when you agree to exchange sex for money.

It the case of conspiracy to blow up a bridge,  you only have to commit the conspiracy... you don't have to blow up a bridge to prove that you conspired to do so.

I thought my point was pretty clearly stated.

After all, aren't we trying to prevent another 9/11?

Well, you do seem like a person with vast years of experience.

Perhaps even a professional wanker.

But, as usual, you take the safe unprovable way out.

Since the gaggle of not-so-smart conspirators were arrested,  we will probably never be able to see if they could bomb anything.

So, you can smuggly say whatever you want and feel comfy.

I will say again:  how smart is anybody that straps a bomb to themselves and blows up a bunch of people.   How smart is anybody that pilots a plane full of people into a building.

All you need is the will.  You don't have to be a genius to fly a plane or strap a bomb.

You also don't have to be wealthy.   There are plenty of people to fund the act.  Shucks, even the UN funds Hamas.
