Ok, fast question:
How do you get this working?  We're trying to run it on a linux server, but so far we've run into nothing but headaches.  We want to run a dedicated server so is there a way to do it without the sound libraries installed?

The one thing I'm really happy with this thing is that the number of shaders that the engine can load has been increased substantially (In EF, the game would close after 1024 shaders were loaded.  In Q3 1.32, the limit was around 16000 ), which was causing me a lot of grief as I was coding RPG-X's new model system.  :p

I've ran into that shader limit so many times while working on EF modding, and spent so much time optimizing to get around it.. awesome to see these limitations being increased so substantially, needed that a long time ago!

LordDave: Are you using the dedicated server build?
You shouldn't run the iostvoyHM-1.34 file but the iostvefded-1.34 file. I just checked, they're not linked against any sound libraries.
If that doesn't solve your problem please paste me the error message you get at startup and I'll see how I can fix it the best way!
Please also make sure to include the pak9.pk3 file in your baseEF dir so movement doesn't change and set sv_allowdownload to 1 if you want, so clients can download it if they don't have it.

Ran both, had the pak9.pk3 in it, nothing worked.  Something about a segmentation fault.
I don't have the error on hand because we've decided to cancel the attempt anyway.  It was too much effort for what we were going to do.

Segmentation fault means it crashed because it accessed invalid memory. I'd be very interested in getting a temporary shell account to do debugging on that machine.

Not possible.  Not mine and the person it does belong to isn't able to actually let anyone else use it.

Can you give an ICQ# to contact him? I could talk him through the debugging.

Nah it's ok.  Like I said it doesn't matter at this point.  The reason we were setting it up has come and gone.
