I'm a long term Quake fan, I bought it on both PC and 360.

I have to express some disappointment with the 360 version.  The game runs so much better on my laptop than the triple core 360? That cannot be right.

The game distorts on the 360 in any non-standard resolution?  Works fine on the PC version.

The thing that really killed the single player game for me though was the load times.  Why are they so long?  I like playing games on the very hardest difficulty, but when every time you die you have to select the most recent save and wait ages while it reloads.  No-one minds a bit of a wait between levels, but a checkpointed save should be near instant.  I mean all your models and textures are already there, and lots of other games manage it fine.

It suffers from killer lag in multiplayer, but again works fine on my laptop on the same 8Mb ADSL.

I loved the multiplayer, and was looking forward to Q4 being one of the biggest 360 games, but unfortunately, due to these problems and others, it's dying on the vine.  The potential community is huge, and XBox Live would let you charge for relatively cheap (often free for PC versions) to produce content like new levels and player models.

It needs an update; it would be worth your while.  This isn't a whine (at least it's not meant to be)  I'm happy to go play other games.  I'm just trying to let you know that you're missing an opportunity here.

Agreed. But I have a question for you, I heard it came with Quake 2. Does the Quake 2 port have split screen mp and if so, is there ctf?

I'm pretty sure the 360 Quake 2 is just the original Mac version with one or two tweaks.  It doesn't have the split screen that the N64 version did, and it'll only do multiplayer across a LAN.

I think they should XBL it and release it as an Arcade title, but that's another topic.
