My dog Europa, prominantly featured in my avatar, has to be put to sleep.

Over the past month her health has deteoriated, and its at the point where shes in just too much pain. At 13 theres really nothing the vets can do, its a very old age for a dog.

Seeing her there today was one of the hardest things I've had to do, she just looks so miserable, and shes vomiting continuously, even though she isn't eating or drinking.

We've had her since I was six, I hardly remember a life without her. I keep expecting her to just walk up the stairs. The house is just so empty now.

Fortionately college ended and I came home today so I was able to say goodbye.

Shes had a good healthy long life. I'm thankful for that, but I keep trying to not think about her because every time I do I just fall apart. She was the wallpaper on my computer, but I had to change it because I just can't look at it right now.

We have a cat that is 7 years old and a dog that is a year and a half.  Life will be hard once they leave us, but I try to remember that all we can do is enjoy each day.  I'm sure you did the same with your dog.  She was loved and she had a good life.  That's all a pet can ask for.

I feel for you man. It's hard to lose a pet that's been with you so long and you've grown up with.

A couple years ago we had to put down our dog Daisy, who was 12 at the time. My parents got her as a new puppy just a month or two before I was born, so we really did grow up together. It really tore me apart to lose her.

My Dog died at 18 a couple years ago.

I had a dog for 14 1/2 years. He had a good 13 years  before he started getting sick. I helped him as much as his pride would allow. At the time I didn't have to go anywhere so I took care of him 24/7 right up to the very end. I couldn't look at any of his things, so I have a idea of what you are going through.  

That is a real shame mate, and I know what your going through.

I have had some problems with my dog lately, but I think now she is on the road to recovery

Sorry to hear about your loss.  My family's first dog, Sadie, lived to 16 and I too did not remember life with-out her when she had to be put to sleep. I still feel like her passing was like my childhood passing.

I'm sure she lived a good life as part of a loving family who cared enough about her to make that hard final choice.

Sorry to hear that Madman.  My cat died last year at 10 years old.  I know how it is.  At least you were able to have fun together for so long.
