It per-default takes the default.cfg from the pk3 and you don't need to unpack them. Putting the default.cfg and the exe into one dir simply won't work since it won't look for the file there.

Working fine is not the issue, using the mod adds "Elite Force downloads (at least on mine, as I have all my zips for STVEF 1 in a seprate folder) and  BaseEF to the mod list.

I tried this new exe with my sffa mod server ...it starts up ok and runs fine but this error keeps scrolling in the server console...(Fatal:Out of level items)  This is a command line start up of the sffa mod ..any clues????

Probably this is nothing. After I start the mod and bring down the console, I start scroling through the text. I run across this: Loading dll file ui.
Failed to Load, Looking for qvm.
                                               Loading vm file vm/ui.
Now I unpacked the pak4.pk3, and the vm folder is just labled vm. Shouldn't it be vm/ui.qum. So it could load it faster.

Crashguth: Thanks for telling me! I need more information about this. Where can I get the mod?
I also need to know which map you are using.

George:
No, like I said before. The program will look for all directories that are in the same directory as the .exe file itself. It will then search every directory there i.g. for the file "vm\ui.qvm" (vm is a subdirectory there). The .qvm files don't have to be there normally but can also be contained in a .pk3 file laying in that mod directory
If there is a .qvm file available it will then declare that directory contains a modification.
This means: as soon as you remove all .pk3 files from your ELITEFORCE 1 DOWNLOADS directory it won't appear anymore as modification.

The new error about "failed to load ...dll" is not serious and only means it tries to load a dynamically linked library first. If that fails, it then tries to load the qvm files.

I was not able to reproduce the bug using the ctf_stargate_sg-1 and superffa mod.
Is this really the map where the bug occured?
I need to know exactly on which map it happens, how many bots did you have on the server when it happened?
What is the g_gametype configuration (a bit more cvars would be helpful, too)?
Does the error occur only after some time of playing or right at the beginning of the map?
Once the error occurs, does it happen on other maps too?

A bug report is only a good bug report if you provide as much info as possible :)
The error is somewhere in the bot support routines where there's not enough memory for level items allocated. I guess it only happens on one single map. It is not difficult to fix, but first I'd like to see how much larger I need to make that memory and for that I need to reproduce the bug.

Thilo,

I'm running WinXP Pro with Service Pack 2, and your engine crashes unless I disable Data Execution Prevention for the EXE. This is not a problem for me, but I expect people would find it annoying.
