I've only heard good things.  It's a very nice alternative to the iPod.

I can't see the price for this being lower than $270, in which case it still doesn't make sense not to get a Creative Zen Jukebox Xtra.  I got a 60 gig version of that for $270, so I imagine smaller versions are cheaper, so why not?

...because the headphone jack is attached to the mainboard in laughable fashion.  I had to solder one back on my brother's Zen... kind of a shame too because the player's internal design has this admirable simplicity, and you can change the battery yourself without voiding the warantee.

$200 on Amazon/Circuit City, and I found it for $180 elsewhere. :p

Wasn't asking you to change. :p

Doing some research, it seems most of the gripes w/ it were regarding the UI, and the 3.0 firmware upgrade seems to fix most of them, as well as apparently really upgrading the sound quality.  The US version should be available soon, and in the meantime, there are tutorials to turn yours into a 3.01 Japanese model... Heheh...  Would be cool to have one that supports Japanese text, as well as having it run in Japanese w/ no one else able to read it amuses me on a very deep, geeky level.

My Bro has had the 40gig version for a few months, so far he likes it.  The screen is large and crystal clear, but I think he might have had some trouble installing the software on his PC though...don't remember what the problem was.  But then again, his windows install is so corrupt to begin with, im not surprised it didn't work.
