Hi,

Im having this problem with sof2,
when ever i connect to a server, i can play for a while before it crashes my whole system, and a strange noise comes from the speakers.
I have tried doing the following with no success
Reinstalling sof2 (both on the same drive and another)
reinstalling sound/video drivers
trying different servers etc
i tried ending some programs in the background that might of caused it.
ive updated PB

i don't know what might of caused it though.
I can also create my own server and play on it without crashing, and the only online servers i play on have osp, but ive reinstalled/updated my osp so i donno.
Single player works fine
and i THINK it MIGHT only lock up on servers with people on it... not to sure of that tho.
sof2 has worked fine for about umm 3\4 years before it started doing this.

Hope you can help,
thanks.
Michael

Nope.
I tried a variety of servers and only the ones running punkbuster locked up.

How did you update PB?  Through the game or through EvenBalance's update utility?

I know 1 thing that may help: PB uses 2 ways to scan for cheats. 1 is faster than the other way (i forgot which is which), but this is done via the pb_system cvar.

The pb_system cvar can have two different values: 0 or 1

Just try to set it to the other value... so if it is 0 now then change it to 1 (or visa versa).
It solved my crashes (although i still have problems with the auto-update)

If you are running a socket A system with GeForce4 then all you have to do is enable Windows 98/ME compability mode.

To do this; right-click on the sof2 icon (either on the desktop or the sof2.exe file, then in the "compatibility" tab, mark the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" checkbox and select "windows 98 / Windows ME".
Yes i know it sounds strange, but it works fine on atleast two socket A nforce2 systems I've tried.
