OK well i instailed quake 4 on my new computer. Its deafult is low and i hate playing on crap graphics so i put it to High and restarted Quake 4 and my computer. when ever i go to play it now, on the settings it says its on high But when i play the game its on low. i tried this again with ultra quality and it does the same thing. then i unistailed the game and instialed it again but it still does the same thing. Help would be appreciated plz

Hey sorry I haven't gotten back to you or any one else for that matter.

Blah I was doing a huge write up...but basically more info than you really need or want...so here is the quick way to fix things.

Start up Q4, start a local server...while the server is running hit your Esc key go to the menus and adjust your settings, video, binds, every thing just how you want...now return to the running server. Now once your back drop the console by hitting the tiddle key ~ then enter the following:

vid_restart ; wait 60 ; writeConfig Quake4Config.cfg

Then hit the Enter key...the screen will bug for a bit and then return to normal...now exit the game and restart Q4 to see if every thing took...which ideally it should have. If it didn't....then do the same thing as prior but this time enter the following into the console:

vid_restart ; wait 60 ; writeConfig autoexec.cfg

The down side to this is that now any changes you'll want to make for what ever reason...will now require you to over write that file through the console, or to manually edit the file with a text editor...which generally should be found in "C:\Program Files\id Software\Quake 4\q4base" keep in mind that if you are using mods you'll need to edit the autoexec.cfg thats stored in thier directory.

Any ways let me know if your still having problems after this...and I'll try to be a bit more responcive.
