I have a problem where I can't even get the game to load AT ALL. It's the DVD version and whenever I click on the icon, the hourglass appears and my DVD drive spins up, but nothing EVER happens. After about two minutes of the drive spinning and my hard drive light flashing, I get an error message asking me to insert the proper disc, then hit ok to restart. hmm... well, the disc is already in the drive! I'm not sure how to get this fixed, because the game isn't "crashing" like the common problem people are having, it's completely failing to load. As I don't get a splash screen, menu or anything. Anyone have any ideas? Athlon 3200 64 ASUS A8N-E 1gb PC3200 Geforce 6800 GS 256mb Win XP with sp2 Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound card

If other DVD's work in your DVD-Drive, I would probably look into getting Quake 4 replaced. Did you by any chance buy the import (international) version of Q4? I have heard that the import version has a similar problem you describe. You could also look into updating your firmware on your DVD-Drive. Good luck.

Hey, thank you for the reply. Well, I was able to swap my DVD drive with a friend's, and it looks to me like my DVD drive is on it's way out. I was able to get the game to load just fine using his. Guess now's the time to get that DVD writer I've been looking at.
