I just bought Quake 4 today and it installs fine. When I go to play it, it opens to a grey screen then goes back to the desktop. I have updated it to the latest version and still nothing. I also have the latest video drivers and sound drivers. Most likely its the Radeon xpress 200 screwing me over. Any suggestions besides buying a new video card? My specs are: AMD Athlon 3500+ ATI Radeon Xpress 200 1 gig of ram. ac'97 audio

I've read through all that crap in the sticky and none of it works. I could have saved my money and bought a new video card but no.. I bought what I thought was going to be a fun game. I can't take the biscuit eater back either. I want support and I want it now.

same problem here and I have a dual Xeon with ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500. 1GB RAM.

IIRC that is securom not liking something in connection with the drive/virtual drive, the DVD version of Securom is apparently more picky than the CD https://activision.custhelp.com/cgi-bin....d=15135 If you are experiencing the following issue: After display of the initial game splash screens the application exits to windows desktop and nothing happens. Please ensure debugger software is not installed in the system.

So... it doesnt like virtual mounts? I dont think im in debugging mode How can I get it to work. BTW, nothing is mounted. DO I need to uninstall daemon tools and alchol 120% in order to get it to work?

Did you try running the game with the sound disabled? That way you can figure out of the 2 (video/sound) is causing the real problem? Most PCs to run Q4 seem to have problems with the sound and have some type of blank screen depending on the video card.
