Yesterday, a friend and I played a new custom map "Kaminca". A mix of mp_kam and definetely mp_finca. nice map btw. It got me thinkin of the good old days. the raven/finca inf days.. and suddenly I just had to play finca. I quickly refreshed the server list, lookin for an 'oldskewl finca inf server'. man was I dissappointed?! not a single one appeared.  I could'nt believe this. finca died!!

Anyway, I descided to install 1.0. and for the first in 2,5 years I refreshed the original server list, to my big surprise.. A whole community still back there! but what had me wildin, was my old/first clan is still there.!.! plus my old ´favorite RMG servers.."wasteland".. dude i was happy.. it was like buyin the game all over again.lol.. I counted it to around 350-400 players online at that time.
funny thing is, I ask these guys why they play 1.0.. and half dont even know about the ´gold ´old patch.

I also installed the old mp demo "test". to discover that more than 20 servers are busy. and people actually having clan servers on a demo, that only allows mp_shop to be played.

I started to get even more curious, so i looked in the dusty end of my shelf, and yup, there it was.. the Soldier of Fortune special edition. I installed the sucker, and oh yeah its still on. around 13 servers that is, but 1 was full(26)!

My point is, i guess, if all sof players would just play the same game it would be a whole lot bigger..
But one thing is surden. This game aint dead nor dying.

PS: I still pwn everyone in sof1  

yeah, I did that with MPtest like a year ago, it was fun, but there were at least 2 cheaters on that server

I have been playing SOF2 since its release. I dread to think how many hours I've played it online - lots and lots. It still has (and deserves) a tremendous following and to be quite honnest outstrips every othe FPS for gameplay.
OK my point.....
Its now virtually impossible to buy this game anymore.
The links to purchase the game on the Raven website are dead.

Can I suggest that SOFII v1.00 is now made available as a FREE download.
How would this benefit Raven Software ?
Well just about anyone that has played SOF2 would agree they would like an SOF3
Encourage people to play SOF2 and in the next couple of years develop SOF3 and you will have a huge following prepaired to go out and buy it. V1.00 has no PB so CD keys would not be an issue.
What are peoples views on this ?
