Im writting an essay on how kids are not always made more aggressive by playing violent video games.  But all I can find are articles telling how they do make kids more aggressive.  Like wtf?

I know the good articles on this subject are out there, because I've read a few, but refinding them has been a challenge. :s9: Any of you know of some good "pro-game" articles out there?

hope you all can help, thanks    :cool:

I'd check Gamespot.  Also, one of the last few issues of PC Gamer had a good article about how kids these days are actually the least violent they've ever been.

I know there is one out there, it is just that pro-non-violent game articles are not news-worthy sorry.

Hey, I'm a 22 year old gammer who's been playing since 1985.  I've played all sorts of violent video games and I can tell you first hand that no, it doesn't make kids violent.  Poor anger management makes kids violent. :D

google "prefrontal cortex"
(hint : it doesn't develop fully until ~age18-21)

Got Lobe?

-------------

the reason kids are more violent that the rest of us is because they can't distinguish between impulse and action.
they don't think before they act.
and they act without understanding social consequenses.

(they think they are immortal.  etc)

but once the prefrontal cortex comes online at age 18-21 the "kid" won't act that way anymore.

so really,  its just a function of being young; not a function of violent media at all.

all the video games do , is give them ideas :old8:
but they would still "act without thinking" regardless of the media influences.
(because thats what it means to act like a young human)

you can't stop them from being exposed to IDEAS.

best thing you can do , is just make sure they don;'t get their hands on real weapons. heh
(but that would mean "gun control" and of course we all know thats BAD)

point is: kids will always act violently towards each other
(there will always be the "fights after school" to settle social disputes)
there's nothing society can do to make them suddenly distinguish between thought and action.

and violent movies/games ARE showing kids how to use guns (giving them ideas);
but you can't control ideas.

^^ thats not the root of the problem.

the root of the problem is the society that lives and breathes by the "Gun";
the society that thinks if eveyone owned a gun, it would make them feel SAFER. heh

(when in reality it just increases the chances of your getting shot.
by a YOUTH. :old8:)
