I cannot successfully install quake 4, I get an error when trying to copy file pak003.pk4.  When trying to manually copy this file, I get Cannot copy pak003: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I have seen in other forums that others are having the same issue, I guess a bunch of bad media made it out somehow..

Is there anyway that the file can be put on a ftp site to be downloaded, etc.?

disc 2? what is this you speak o..... ohhh you have not yet discovered DVD? Poor Child.

I would get the game replaced asap. I also have the CD version & had no problem installing.

I have two DVD drives.. but when I went to buy Q4 (the day it came out) they had sold out of DVD versions so I just bought the CD. I just couldnt wait.  

well the cd version is cheaper and works the same, I am just going to copy files to system and play the linux version.  I bought the game on ebay, so of course, taking it back is easier said than done, but I am in the process...

ebay? eck... I would never do that unless thinking I could lose my cash.

cd is cheeper? it costs the same to produce one CD as it does ONE DVD so i technically the DVD would be cheaper but the market sells them at the same price

Well the DVD is the "Special Edition", which may have a few bonus things, but is the same game, but by looking around, it seems to costs more on average then the cd version.  Anyways, yes Ebay can be risky, but it is a valid game and for 25 bucks, it was worth a try...  Maybe the person knew that it was bad, but search around in other forums, I am not the only to have this problem, it would appear that there was a bad set of quake 4 disks put out there......

So... I was able to download the bad file, and the game is awesome, it works great under Linux, you got to love It... Raven/Id software really makes there products well, such that it runs under both windows and Linux!!!!!
