If I remember correctly, like Bestbuy or Compusa, the usual places I purchase PC games or perhaps Xbox games.. once you buy it, it's yours. You cannot return the game to refund your money. You cannot return the game for another of equal price.
However, if the game is defective, then you can return it for another copy. That is what I remember when I was unhappy with an Xbox game. I did find another place that would buy the game from me or credit towards another purchase of another used/new game.
That is why there are places that allow you to rent console games before you buy. But for PC games, I don't see or recall that happening. Because of copy right law is why they have purchase policy on software for a PC/Mac. That is where demo's come in.
If you download games for purchase, that's a different story, since they have a different policy. More then likely, I don't see a site refunding your money once you download their software, regardless if you think the game or software you downloaded sucks with in 1 or 2 days. |

still around that time there were other games that had it? other wise I wuld remmber haveing to command line res settings, altho it was not that bad but it felt hobbled togather becuse of it. |
Only a few Direct3D games had it, like Terracide, Jedi Knight, etc. Remember, it's REALLY a pain for OpenGL to switch resolution while it's already running. Especially back then, it'd take too long to destroy and recreate the GL display context while the application is still running in memory. If you don't do that, you'll wind up with corrupt mesh data in memory. This is true even in more recent games like MDK2 which is OpenGL and uses dynamic resolution switching (yeah it's rather funny to switch the res only to find that dr. fluke hawkins now has a planet for a head and a foot for a toaster). |

i don't care what you think regarding downloading. fact is its ILLEGAL. as such its taboo for these boards. ANY futher infractions will earn you an outright ban. in fact, coming to a developers official forums and openly commenting that you illegally obtained a game that you're now complaining about is so stupid that you get the ban now. |
