Im a hardcore Ut player, and ive been waiting for the demo to release for q4 to try it out and see whether its any good.
After reading the horror stories of peeps with killer rigs having trouble running this game lag free can anyone tell me why I should plop down the money for this game to play it?  I tried to play q3 arena last year but after a fresh install of a newly purchased game I was repeatedly kicked from ALL servers even after patching because it kept telling me that I had illegal files etc. after 4 hours didnt bother trying to play q3 anymore.
Is there any word of a demo for this game or not?
Hve to try this b4 I buy it comsidering the lackluster reviews its received from all the major sites.
Is the multiplayer lag people speak of really that bad?  Or are peeps blowing it out of proportion?

don't buy it unless you got super computer

I built my computer last year for Doom 3, and it runs Quake 4 without any problems. As long as you can run Doom 3 perfectly, you can run Quake 4 just fine. I'd recommend at least a 6800GT for the graphics, though. ATi is a bad idea for this game, and anyone who says otherwise is insane.

Knowing what I now know, I wouldn't buy this game. I've thought about returning it several times already.

My only hope is that they come out with a good patch and quickly. RA4 might save this game as well.

Would you return the T-Shirt from the pre-order too?  I wouldn't, the XXXL fits me like a glove.

I predict we'll see a patch before a demo.
in many ways, the game is still in development (so to speak).
there was no beta test afterall; this game still has some bugs/errors in it.
and its bad for business to release a demo of a buggy game.

I think Raven will want to wait, until the community has stopped reporting 'new' bugs,
and they can release their (only?)* patch which will attempt to fix ALL the issues in one go.

then when the game is fully 'finished' (so to speak) we WILL see a demo.

* as a contractor doing a job for somebody else, I've noticed that RAven tends to only release one patch per title.
(its probably included in the initial contract that they offer to id/paramount/lucasarts/etc;
Raven will provide 1game+1patch and then, thats the end of their obligation;
any more labor/development on Ravens part will cost extra)

*shrug*

I predict we'll see this (only?) patch, before we see the demo.

Hehe... I agree, but yet... I should get a rebate for buying Q4 for being an alpha buyer?  Even though there wasn't any Beta Testing?  

in a way all PC games are just test candidates for the XBOX version  *shrug*
