Hello -  Wonder if anyone can help me with this.
Whenever I try to play SOF II Multiplayer, I connect to a server and  the map doesn't display correctly.  The map textures are only displayed as black & white checkerboard...
First I thought it might be my graphics drivers.  Turns out they were out of date, so I updated them (Running on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200).  Still no dice...
Then I checked my DirectX via 'dxdiag'.  All seems to be up to date...
So for giggles, I downloaded the MP Test...  the mp_shop map displayed fine.  So then I tried the full-version on a server with mp_shop... STILL no dice...

Anyone have any ideas?  I wanna frag in the worst way, but it's too painful on the eyes without the map textures!

Thanks in advance folks.

OK, so perhaps my install was corrupt...  did a reinstall, but no dice...
Then I ran the Double Helix Gold Full Patch (1.03) I found on soffiles.com.  That STILL didn't resolve the issue...

Please Help!?!?!?

I would re-install the game and make sure your video drivers are updated. Because it sounds to me it's not loading some sound files as-well as some texture files. I know it's a pain in the a$$ to do all this but it happens to the best of us sometimes.

When you uninstall the game make sure you get rid of all registry files located at start/run/regedit - HKEY_Current_User/Software/Raven or Activision and HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Raven or Activision. I can't remember which software folders' are there but I do know it's either Raven or Activision.

I don't have the game installed anymore but that's what I would do.

DwB thanks for the reply.
I've triple-checked my drivers and tried the reinstall a few times now, but no luck.
I have even tried copying the texture0.pk3 and texture1234.pk3 from disk 2 and overwiting the ones in my SOF2 directory.  Still, the same problems exist...

Guess I might be out of luck...  but still it REALLY bugs me that I can run the MP Test/demo without the texture issues.

That may explain why it was so cheap on eBay... D'OH!
Gonna try a friends media to see if it resolves the problem.

Single player seems to work fine with my media... but that's not as much fun as online fragging!

Well it's never a good idea to buy 2nd games on ebay and especially games with PB on them. 99% of the time that's why they're on there because the CDKEY has a GUID ban on it or the games it's self is funked. When you come to buying the game new makesure it's still shrinkwrapped and not opened.

The key seems fine as I am able to enter servers with PB enabled...
Is there another form of protection for SOF2 that makes the maps funcky by using a nonvalid or otherwise 'bad' s/n?
