This game is runnable on almost any computer if you try the following commands on a local server Load up "Over the edge" for example.. net_allowcheats 1 r_singlelight 75 r_lightscale 6 Im running the game like this with no FPS drops on my knackered radeon 9600xt (offline of course), these commands arent allowed on the internet. I really do hope a patch will allow these commands or allow some tweaking which is similar to this. I think the majority of people who arent playing it dont think the mp is worth forking a couple hundred bucks to pay for new hardware (and afaik, not many people ARE playing it online) Tweaks like these wont ruin the image of the game as only the people who want to play this game competitivly will be doing the tweaking. +make the weapon menu popup whenever a weapon _impulse is called, so the menu works the same as in Q3 (even if your hitting the bind for the weapon your allready using) . no competetive players scroll through the weapons, as it stands you can't find out what weapons you've picked up, and it's fartoo easy to miss the pickup notification in a fight.
+add some female models!
+add 'ready' timeout, or majority override.
+allow people to remove bob in multiplayer.
+fix windows colour palette being messed up if game crashes.
+redo that star texture used on the q3dm17 remake it's abysmal.
+change weapon textures,add a prominent pannel the same colour as their ammo crates or something too late for models, but all the weapons look FAR too similar, this used to a pet hate reserved by many for UT, never expected it in a quake series game. |

just figured i through in my 2 cents, most have already been covered...
MUST DO'S FOR MP:
1) machine gun noise needs to be a bit quieter, very annoying. i also saw somebody say they should make it weaker, i feel the opposite. i spawn in and dump every round into somebody and they don't die, weird. plus you don't stand a chance against somebody with a weapon other than the MG.
2) permenant weapon bar or shows up every time a weapon key is pressed, very frustrating. i'm having a real hard time with this. i find myself pressing all my binds just to see what i have, usually ends up in me dying. scroll works but that's almost as bad, very slow.
3) needs a filter in game browser, very annoying. sifting through 1000's of servers, empty, full, password, etc is really getting on my nerves. espically since the mouse scroll seems to be bugged. All seeing eye has added q4, but no servers seem to appear in the list :\
4) needs different player sounds for each team, very annoying. very confusing when your team and the opposing team sound exactly the same. i find myself shooting team mates allot because i can't distinguish their sounds from the other teams.
WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE:
1) some maps with lifts instead of jump pads. i personally don't like jump pads at all, especially when going up against a skilled railer. a lift where i can still maneuver/abort would be great. floating in the air like a fish in a barrel just doesn't seem to cut it, especially since there are ALLOT of jump pads.
2) double jump. i see little purpose in putting in crates that have to be slowly climbed inorder to get an item. been killed many a time fumbling on akward crates is rather annoying.
3) tournament style maps. rather than just wondering around huge maps in searh of the opposing player is a bit dull. a 1 on 1 or teamplay map should be tight and relatevly small, but not q3dm1 small. the existing maps play well when it's 4 on 4 or greater. and more spots that require circle jumps/strafe jumps/ etc instead of every once in a great while.
4) ability to bind more than 1 command to a key, especially for weapons. the _impulse commands seem to disagree with this heavily.
BUGS:
dunno if this is on my end or not but the sound seems to cut out occosionally. and not it's not all the sounds, just a few. ie, i can hear them jump but not fire etc for a few seconds. plus occosionally when some 1 dies, their last sound (jump, walk, etc) or death sound loops for a few seconds.
mousewhell in MP game browser is foobared.
i have no beef with SP. |

2) this is where binding each weapon to a key helps.. you press button x you get weapon x. 4) I think this is something for the MOD makers. But agreed, maybe something to make team mates more obvious would be better. 1) Jump pads... dont use them unless you know you wont be railed Everything else i agree with. quote: dunno if this is on my end or not but the sound seems to cut out occosionally i get this too, i thought it was to do with my drivers.. i dont know. spy |
