Take these suggestions from the creator of this video:  Get Quaked 3 and please at least have a look at the video to see what the standard of play was like at the end of Quake 3. Hopefully the same and even more can be accomplished in Quake4 - if the following are implemented.

1) Increased Rocket Speed
Without a doublt, the rocket launcher has been the most dominant weapon in every Quake game since Quake1 in 1995. "The rocket launcher makes the movies". The most impressive shots in any Quake video I have ever seen are with the rocket launcher...

The speed of the rockets must be increased. I know that slower rockets do require more skill to use, and I have got several double midair rockets, etc since the release of the game, but I still think they are way, way too slow. At present, you have to aim MILES ahead of an enemy to hit them with a midair rocket, so much that its simply not worth going for the more impressive shots.

One of the reasons Quake2 didn't make it as far as Quake or Quake III Arena is because the rockets were too slow, and it changed the game dramatically.

2) Lower mouse sensitivity when zoomed
I remember the same problem with Quake 3 was immediately fixed in a patch. At the moment the sensitivity is way too high when zoomed in, so much that if I move my mouse 1cm, it scans across a whole room on my screen. The zoom:sensitivity ratio in Quake3 is perfect. Please fix this so zoom is useful.

3) Double jumping
It takes too long to jump up a few boxes to reach an item. Several times so far I've been annoyed at the fact I have to slow down so much to climb a measely set of boxes, and it slows the game down by a huge amount. Quake2 had double jumping, you were able to double jump up some boxes in Quake3 - so why have to jump up several boxes to get to the top when you can enable double jumping and make the game more intense?

4) Crouch sliding
The ability to simply crouch and turn a corner and not lose any speed is rediculous. With the scout powerup in Arena CTF you can use it to get around every corner of the map without losing any speed. Some insanely large jumps are possible because of this feature, and I think it should be fixed/removed for professional play.

5) New 1vs1 maps
None of the maps that come with Quake4 have potential to be used in professional tournaments. Just look at previous Quake3 maps for ideas. A good map needs to flow well, have more than just one armour and a mixture of open and closed areas (big and small rooms). The 1vs1 version of q4dm1 just isn't suitable. Personally I'd like to see a remake of ztn3tourney1 from Quake 3 (aka blood run (I think?) from Quake 1). A new version of Aerowalk would be sweet too - just carry on the tradition you know ;) But newer maps would be awesome too, to create a fresh style of competitive play.

6) Forcemodel and brightskin commands
Basically, it's just too hard to see enemy players. Especially on some maps where they appear to be a moving shadow. In every game that is played on a professional level, you can tell if what you just saw was the enemy you're hunting down for thousands of dollars. In Quake 4 it's a real problem and hopefully it can be fixed before CPL next year.

This is like the only thing making the game interesting right now in terms of movement.  It fits along perfectly with the game's ramps.  In the next patch I would like the option to turn off dynamic lighting in multiplayer.  It really kills the performance on some of the maps and personally I could care less about it.

Change the hitboxes.  They're retardedly big (if you can see their name, you can hit them).  Don't think I'm telling the truth?  Try shooting to the side of a player model in game.

Railgun is too powerful!  Fragging yards is really stupid with such a powerful gun.  Lower damage to 80 and it should be fine.

I don't really think we need double jump right now as long as crouch sliding continues to evolve.  It is possible to get up onto the yellow armor on The Edge with 1 ramp jump on the stairs.  Maybe if maps were tailored to take advatages of these ramp jumps double jumping would not be needed at all.

Machine gun is still too powerful as a spawn weapon.  Lost count of how many times someone has spawned behind me with 2 health after I barely survived a battle with them.

Just release quake 3 like source code, not the scripted garbage in the pk4.

We don't need any balance changes, sorry. Simply new content and performance/technical issues addressed. A multithreading patch should be high priority.

I would love to see acouple maps in the next patch along with some performance boost... other than that Quake 4 is perfect.  I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!   :s1:

like to add few things

- some nice MP models including female MP models (current marine models are quite generic)

- different grunt&death sounds for all the MP models

- different footstep sounds

- needed to volume up the hit sound

I kinda agree, but after testing, the rockets appear to be just as fast as q3 =] Some timed rocket jumps on the dm17 remake, they work exactly the same way in quake4 =]

Dont agree at all here, this is a new movement feature for Q4, and it rocks! it makes duel play so much more faster, it shouldnt be toutched.

5) New 1vs1 maps

I kinda agree here, tho I think fleet and dm1v1 rock as duel maps and i'd rather not see any remakes of maps.

6) Forcemodel and brightskin commands

1. machine gun sound is ANNOYING fix it !
2. hud to show weapons & ammo status
3. fix up the game browser a bit

1. The most important change that raven could do for me on this game is to do something with the god-awful sound of the machine gun.  The machine gun sound is so loud and annoying !!!  if they could change it to a more tolerable sound or make a way for us to turn the volume of just that gun down low.

2. Also would like to be able to know what guns i have picked up -- to have it displayed in the hud at the bottom would be great like ut2004 does.

3. Also the browse games interface doesn't seem to work the best for me it is hard to scroll down without jumping all the way down and it shows server info all the time in a pop up window that ends up blocking alot of the other info that you may want to see in the browser.
