Just google your phone and look for a cable.  I found one on Ebay.  Then you need software.  I use 'Datapilot,' but I don't know what you need for Motorola phones.

My friends have the MP3 stuff, and they've got all the latest crap music for their ringtones.  I've got The Saint theme and a song by Nakashima Mika.

A couple years ago, I looked into recording ringtones.  I found a couple faqs but at that point, most ringtones used a proprietary format which I had to spend some $$ I didn't have at the time.  Even the USB cable to my phone cost about $70 or so.

So, phones these days take MP3's...?  I wonder what bit rate...I should look for another faq....

And if you buy the cable/software directly from Samsung, it's like $60.  But there are cheaper alternatives... including buying the cable direct from Singapore for $1 on Ebay.

Well, I did a little searching, and took a trip over to eBay.  The one I got cost about $5.00.  I saw some cheaper ones, but this came with a couple CD Roms which would save me some downloading.  Worth the surcharge IMHO.

It seems that cell phones take MP3's & MIDI files.  Mine takes both.  I can record either.  Sure, I can also swap wallpaper and stuff, but I'm more interested in making ringtones.  The Crazy Frog one I got is a 48-bit MP3.  But I don't know if that's the file that a phone would use or if it was set to 48-bits for demo purposes...

Anyway, even if I fall flat on my face with this (ie. I can't load squat in to the phone), I didn't spend a mint...

Anyway, when the forums are working again, it would be cool if the first person to find out would make a thread announcing it, to make sure everyone knows..

At this point, who ever finds out the board is working properly couldn't help but start a thread anouncing it.
