Hey.  Im sure that at least a few of u have tried Topic and my map, TT_strafes_beta1.  We have listened to peoples reviews, and they all like it, just, they all want a timer for the racing lanes lol, and i dont blame em.  So, how do wedo this?  I have no scripting or programming experience either  :O

What do they want to use the timer for?  To see who won, or to track and compare "scores?"

To get something to actually return a time for their run, you may need to make a mod.  To just see how wins, put target_kills in both lanes, and give each player a trigger at the end of the lane.  Loser dies.  Heh.

I already did that.  I was wondering if there was a way to "time" a race, and have it display at the end of the race, for each individual lane, or on the players screen.

If someone could mod a (I think relatively simple...) timer for EF, some of the possibilities is to "speedcap". A timer will give undenying evidence of who is fastest in capping... and that would work for any ctf map!
Unlike a racing lane, there is no need for start and stop brushes to start and stop the timer, the game knows when a flag is taken and also knows when it's capped, so if someone knows how to time these two events, that would be great!
I've got some more ideas but this is a simple start... I hope? (I haven't even really thought about: can the game keep track of two flags taken, if it's played online)
