Here is a small compact article about Quake IV and what we (the public) know yet.

And the question now after the trailer revealed many key infos on Quake IV will there be a public beta test and when does it starts?

raven hasnt had public beta tests till now, and i doubt they will start with things like that for Q4...

AH! Rare as ####.
I would say, don't count on it.
Too hard to manage and doesn't worth enough it for a game like that.
A MMORPG do worth an extensive beta testing.

Activision has a dedicated beta testing team, mostly american if not all of them i think.

They will more than likely score the quake 4 beta, but as Speed said public beta testing on an fps wnt happen.

Not even sure how you apply for a place in the activision testing team, Iced Eagle could tell ya more.

You apply like a normal job. Normaly they ask you to relocate or be locate to Los Angeles area. (If I remember right)
All the beta testing is done in house, and often on night shift.
All has to sign strong NDA, and nothing come out of there.

We didn't. But they were really restrictive.
And from what I know, those who leaked it were sued.

Beside, it's not ID who is dev Q4, but RavenSoft.
And it has reputation of never (Or ultra-rarely) leaking anything.

You probably confuse it with the Q3 IHV test, which was a leaked alpha version of Q3, originally only for hardware vendors. But the q3test versions were released later in 1999 and free for everyone. You can still get them today.

I understood it that way that the nailgun wall-climbing is the equivalent to Q3´s plasmagun wall-climbing. A regular feature of the gun, not a weapon mod.
