ATI has released a public beta of their next drivers release, CATALYST 4.9. This was released in order to help those who need more performance for Doom 3, but they are not supported and as the site says, "ATI does NOT recommend installing these drivers in systems used
for mission critical operations or where productivity of any
kind is a concern."

You can find more information at the ATI Infobase here.

I will not be installing this, it appears to be a 'hotfix' for Doom3 and I doubt there is any real performance enhancements for other areas. I'm sure things are in some places, but not worthy since I don't have Doom3 right now.

If you have Doom3 and like ATI says, are comfortable with using handling drivers, then go ahead. Otherwise, no one is responsible, but yourself.
