I have a problem with my new computer.

I just built a new comp. Soyo SY-P4I865PE Plus Dragon 2 V1.0 MOBO, Preston P4 3.0 HT proc with a NVIDIA GeFORCE FX 5700VE 256 meg DDR vid card and 1 gig PC3200 ram XP Pro SP2.

If I enable the hyper threading and set ram to dual channel, my sof2 game will play for a couple minutes then crash. When it crashes my desktop looks "pale" If I disable the hyper threading and set ram to single channel the game runs fine, no problems at all. I have all the newest drivers and bios. My firewall and router are not the problem. Game runs fine on my old computer set up on the same home network (same router, Windows version, and firewall)  :s9:

Any ideas or help would be great. I built this machine for games and it runs great except with sof2 (with hyper threading enabled)

I had a similar problem a while back. Used to experience lock-ups with any graphics-intensive games or programs. I had a Asus P4S800 mb, Radeon 9800 Pro, 2.6 P4 HT, 80 GB Maxtor ATA 133, 1 Gig single channel RAM. I would have to run the AGP @ 4X instead of 8X, otherwise whole system would freeze. Thought it might have been a vid-card heat issue, so I added a VGA cooler. Don't think the PSU was the problem as it was a 350W Enermax. Discovered that other ppl had problems with 9800's with the SiS 648FX chipset on that particular mb. I've since switched to an Abit AI7 (Intel 865PE chipset), 2 gigs dual channel, 200 GB SATA, a 475W Enermax, and a 3.2 P4 and still with the 9800 Pro. Smooth as silk now! Speaking of PSU's, what kind of power supply is in your box? Too many ppl build a system with top-of-the-line components, only to go and power it with $20 generic PSU and wonder why it doesn't work properly. Something to look at. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. My PSU is good to go, 450 watt that came in my X-Blade case. And my memory is 2 sticks of 512 PC 3200
