I have to make a 30 sec animation for school...

3D models and all.

But my anim came out to be 800 frames. Which mean amazingly long rendering time, since it has radiosity and HDRI in it. (+A lot of grass)

I finally manage to set all my computer in a rendering network.
Now I have 4 CPU working on it, which mean 3-4 times faster. :)

Sounds cool.

Is the 3D software taking card of sharing the data to all the PC's or do you have a 3rd party software doing that.

There is network support in LW.

Then set each to render a number of frame base on the different CPU power. Luckily, all computers should finish around the same time.
I calculate base on the time it takes to do one frame, and I should have for at least 22 hours of rendering.

I have a presentation tomorrow of the progress I've made in my final animation for school... Uh... yeah...  I'm not feeling too hot about this...  Pretty far behind, and it's all coming out like crap or something eerily similar...  *sigh*

*alt-tabs to Max and gets to work*

You should sample a few frames from different parts of the animation, and calculate based on their average time. Because some frames are going to render faster or slower, depending on how render intensive they are. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes longer than 22 hrs.

But good luck with your "render farm". Sounds fun. :)

What's it about, BTW?

How long is it taking per frame?

I'm estimating my final render will be about 2.5 to 3 minutes per frame... That's w/out anything fancy.

You're right. Some frames sky rocket to 22 mins each, while some went under 3 mins.
