Hi I was wondering if you were able to give me some sort of thumb rule for the transfer rate that should be given to each slot on a SoF2 dedicated game server. I understand that a few things can vary it from person to person but I was wondering what the average would be.

For Counter Strike: Source, Steam were able to give a thumb rule of 53.4Kbps for each player and was wondering if it was possible to get the same kind of thing for SoF2. Although I was told by a friend that SoF2 doesn't use the same amount of resources as CS:S but thats all I got to go on for now.

So If you knew where I could get that figure from it would help me a lot in my calculations for what kind of bandwidth usages I will use up and how big a line I would need for running the game server so people dont get lag.
Thank you

Hi, thanks I was wanting a 16 / 18 slot sof2 game server.
The current company I am thinking of getting my dedicated server from offers a 100Kbps line with a 10GB Bandwidth limit  OR I can have a 512kbps line with a 160GB bandwidth limit.

For counter-Strike Source steam said that according to the 53.4kbs per player rule a 512kbps line would be able to take 9 players. That assumes you have a sv_minrate of 5000 and a sv_maxrate of  9999

Sorry to bring in another game into this but I just wanted to compare the two. But also knowing the average transfer rate would be helpful in the future.
But really I am just deciding if I need the 512kps slower line with more bandwidth or the 100Mbps line with less bandwidth.
Thanks

hmm,,, are there any companys that offer a 768 upload with no monthly limit?
I use speakeasy.net with their 6mb DL and 768k UL. I host an active 14 slot CS Source server off of it with a rate setting of 7000, no ingame voice comms. Some people biscuit eater about lagg sometimes, but I think some of it is rom their end as others don't get the lagg.

SoF2 with the above settings and and upload you might get away with an 16-18 slot server.
