I *think* only pro has such features as 'system restore' which has saved my bacon a few times.

Home has system restore too..

Not that I've ever used it. I have it turned off, and I just keep 3 DVD-RAM discs updating with everything I need to backup.

AFAIK the only extra features Pro has are networking features...

If you don't need the extra features of pro, why spend the extra money.

:s10: Recently I updated the video driver, after I couldn't use the TV tuner feature of my card, so I tried to roll it back to the previous driver. Still no TV, so I had to use System restore.

Unless you do much networking, you really won't notice muc difference at all.  I've got XP on both my desktop and my laptop.  I just had to check to see which machine had Pro and which had Home, so that tells you something.  However, the moment you decide to do anything as far as connectivity goes (networking, high-speed internet, etc.) you'll wish you had Pro.  I used a Pro machine for a while, then was forced to use a Home machine for a while.  I really missed those networking features, but there's a couple other things that I noticed Pro has that Home doesn't, but I can't remember them right now.  That's why I recommend Pro.

Yeah...I know there's something useful that's missing from Home.  It wasn't 'System Restore' though.

Just because you can use it one or twice a year, doesn't really justify it. But if you have the exta money and you like it, by all means go for it.

Pro = Dev Tools
If you won't create software, no need for Pro, since home is the same thing without the dev tools.
