Heh, you know I've never thought of it that way, but your probably right. I've noticed the same thing, where some maps that really seem pretty crappy to me end up with an uber rating, while others that you can tell someone put a lot of time into just get knocked down. In fact, I've seen that on other filesnetwork sites too. I guess theres nothing that can be done about it though :/

Speed's VDL map is a good example of that.  I could tell Speed put a lot of work into it, and it had some interesting gameplay elements, yet it got a so so rating.

As for what im doing, I gotta polish and release those two 1+ year old maps I made for the 1.3 patch contest.  Then i've gotta finish up Shader Cell.  It would be a shame not to finish SC, its turning out to be such an awesome map, its my masterpiece.  :)

My goal is to finish all these unfinished projects over the next two months, so when summer comes around, I can go full speed ahead on EF:TC.

I simply mod for this game because I love to. And I agree with what most of you have said. It is a form of art, and a way to express one's self, it is a challange, and I don't give a hoot what anyone on effiles or anywhere else thinks of it. Now this doesn't mean I don't take peoples advice. Actully I think I take too much advice from people but as long as what you do makes you happy... Isn't that the whole point of gamming and modding in the first place? Something to do that makes you happy and makes this other wise miserable planet survivable?

well if you know one of the ppl that review files at any FN sites, your the winner, your maps will generaly get reviewd privately, they will often be put up before other maps, and you will often get good reviews...
but that is the way it is all over the place and in every place in life not only FN...

oh and speeds map
that is a story all for itself
the VDL map had a very good rating at first, because speed rated it himself IIRC, and he was flamed to hel| for that and thats why it got a so so review in the end.

and obviously getting good reviews is a morale booster, thats why i allways gave fair and good reviews.

I'm not disagreeing with the morale booster a good review can be. Although I do know a few people who do review files for FN so the last two maps I released got a pretty decent review, especially CTF Bridge.

No comment. :p

Seriously though, it's true. I've given priority to some of you on more than one occasion, sometimes even before you ask. More than once I've gotten a PM or email from somebody saying, "Can you post this on EFFiles please?" and I reply with, "It's already up." Am I ashamed of this? Not really, because a lot of the stuff in the queue either has problems or is junk. :D
