Hi all,
I have been trying to get my server to show up in any list apart from local for about 5 hours now! It worked fine until i went onto a network which consists of a wireless router and network adapters, (all 54mbs), but now, nobody can see my server except me on local. It is getting on my nerves. I have a Netgear DG834G ADSL Router, and i have tried certain things which i have found around the net, including setting the port at 20102, but i'm not 100% sure that i did it right, as i haven't got much of a clue about configuring a router. Please, Please, Please can somebody get my beloved sof2 game working again please? I'm all patched up and updated to Gold 1.3.
Thanks for any help, Steve |

Do you start the server from a shortcut? Make sure the proper entries are in the command line. I have added " +exec dm.cfg +set dedicated 2 +set netport 20100 " (dm.cfg is the config file for my deathmatch server. I have four different shortcuts on my desktop, each of them which execute a different type of server, whether it be a CTF-INF-DEM, sniper, DM or a server which runs the four UBER maps).
Check for typos in your router set-up (proper port numbers forwarded and IP addresses, and double check to make sure it is enabled and designated as UDP). Also make sure that your router is not changing the internal IP address for your game server. On occasion, I will disconnect my server and hook-up another computer to do some repairs, and the router will change the IP address eg. 192.168.1.103 to 192.168.1.104 etc.. Check with your ISP, some service providers assign your (external) address dynamically.
If you use a firewalll, make sure to allow the SOF2mp.exe access. Same thing if you use SP2 in XP.
Check your server config file for anything that does not match up, especially if you do any manual editing. I've had mapcycles not show up after manual edits due to the wrong syntax.
If all else fails, post your server.cfg file, and console and game logs (minus the passwords), maybe someone will pick-up on the error.
One last thing, if you use Punkbuster on your server, to prevent being kicked when joining from your other system, add the following line in your server cfg file (under pb_sv_enable):
pb_sv_lanmask <IP of your game machine>
Good luck! |
