That's the thing...I'm trying to play against my friend, and he can't see it in serverlist, or if he puts in ip either.

When your friend tries to connect through the console, does he use the following format?

connect IP_address:port_number

So, it may be something like....

connect 67.165.82.220:20100

This would tell you if your server/router is correctly set up.
Did you verify that the router is set up correctly? Is the correct port open, set up as TCP and UDP and allows all IP addresses to access it? Is it forwarded to the correct internal IP address?

OK. So, as a checklist.

Do you use "+set net_port 20100" in your start up? If not, you should.
This should be the same port that is opened in your router.

In the netgear router, you should define your port and oly the one port. You do not need a span. Be sure that it is TCP and UDP. This should be "forwarded" to the IP of your server. The 192.168.xxx.xxx number.

If you have those set up correctly, from within SOF go to the game console(~) and try connecting by IP only.

The command is: connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where this is the external IP address of your router not the internal or 192 address.

Also.... there is something weired about the server showing up on your own machine if you are running from something like a broadband connection. I hardly see mine and my connection is 384 up and 4 down. But, others can see it with out a problem. Ping will sometimes effect this.

Try the above and post back.

How can i find the external ip address of my router?

Thanks, Steve

If you log into your router, you can go to... I think it's "Status". Look for the WAN IP address. That should be the IP address that your ISP has assigned to you.

HERE IS YOUR PROBLEM.....YOUR CONFIG FILE IS TOO BIG

Quote (Steve_Uk @ Jan. 15 2005, 4:13 am)
Still no luck. Thanks for posting and helping mind :)

Here's the logs...

sof2mp.cfg:-

That cfg is huge.....

Did you know that if you make it too big....over 16kb the game will default and ignore your custom config all together

you have to make additional configs and spilt the additional commands to this new config labled whatever you want...

and to get the additional config to load with the first one you have to include it in the start up script.

This is how OSP, ROCMOD, and MANDOWN configs run along with your config.  Look to ROCMOD forums on this subject and you will find instructions on how to correct this.....

Otherwise just delete unneeded commands that really don't matter that much to reduce the size of the config.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier or I could of saved you alot of time and trouble

The config file is under the limit. It's about 14k+. But.... he does definately have a lot of junk in there. Such as key binds.
