I have tried several times to get this game working with my system, but everytime I come up with nothing.  I can only get around the first corner in the first level before I get a blue screen that gives a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error.  I've tried at least half a dozen different sets of video drivers, I've tried this game on the orginial win xp, SP 1, SP 2, I've updated my BIOS, installed the chipset AGP drivers, installed all windows updates, installed all the SOF 2 patches, tweaked with my BIOS settings, EVERYTHING.  Now I bought this game a few years ago when it still cost $50 and I've NEVER been able to play it.  My computer contains an AMD Athlon XP 2000 with 512 MB of PC 2100 SDRAM, along with a VisionTek GeForce 4 Ti 4400 128 MB.

So if anyone can actually help me out with this that would be AWESOME, but I'm really starting to give up hope.

By the way your system is behaving it's overheating !

Happened with my GF4 when dust built up on it's fan's (can also be cause by lack of air-flow within the PC)

Why if you got it that long ago did you wait this long before trying here or Activision support for help ???

I have to disagree with you there.  I've played Half Life 2 and Doom 3 and experienced no problems with overheating. [Edit: I've actually replaced the fan/heatsink on my video card with a better copper one, so the cooling is quite adequate]  I think it's safe to say the both games put more stress on the CPU/GPU than SOF 2 does.  Not to mention countless other games I've played on this system with no problems at all.  So let's rule out the things that it can't be:

Overheating
Lack of power/bad power supply
Video card drivers

The reason I rule out video card drivers is because I have tried probably about 5 different versions of the drivers over the years since I bought the game.

So what's next?

Well considering I've played countless games without problems also including D3 you think I may have a clue as to the cause.

These 2 can also give me problems with dust/bad air-flow
KoTOR
C&C Generals

Take the side off your PC case and have a desktop fan blowing on it.

I actually already tried that a while back when someone else had suggested that my system may be  overheating, but it did not help at all.  So once again, I rule out the possibility that this problem is due to overheating.  There is another good reason why it is not due to overheating.  The lockup I experience does not happen after playing for a while.  It happens right at the first level-I go left around the corner, then I go right around the next corner, then bam-it blue screens.  This leads me the believe that neither the GPU or CPU are overheating within that 10 second time frame.  Logic just doesn't allow for such a theory.

Is there anything else I can try?
