I am trying to run a server, not a dedicated, so that I can play my friends in a level of our choice. I can see servers fine and play in other servers but when I create one, my friends can't see it. Is it because i don't have a static IP? I also was curious as to why my friend who has cable and myself can't transfer files on people servers faster than 5kb per second? Are there certain ports that have to be opened to allow a faster download speed.

You have to change the IP somehow. You have a local IP.

I think i kno how to do it now. You have to go to the site that makes your router if you have one and search for "How do i change my IP adress on my (d-link,linkseys or whatever u have) ?"

NOW I KNOW! If youre running a router you have to open ports. If you have a d-link router go here and learn how to open them. It will run the server on the ip that you entered while doing it.
