Hi, one of the guys at http://ravenforums.com suggested I post this here since I didnt get a response over there. Any help would be apreciated :)

Game: Jedi Academy

Fault: Locks up / frezzes during SP game play and during cut scenes. The computer completely locks up and the sounds loops continuesly. I can not Alt F4 or Ctlr Alt Del out of this and half to reset the PC. Some levels it happens every couple of minutes (hoath)

Fixes: This is what I have tried so far after reading every artical I can find.
1) Install latest patch
2) Install updated Video drivers
3) Install Updated Sound drivers
4) Make sure Direct X is up to date
5) Run Direct X test
6) Try using No-CD patch
7) Check that game files are not currupt (use Win-Rar to test the archives)
8) Lower all video/sound options to mimimum settings and disable the Glow thingie
9) Check for over heating, the card was running a little hot but I have the lid off and have installed another fan in the video cards heat sink. It also crashes after the PC has only just been turned on. I am sure this is not an issue

System:
OS: Win98 SE
CPU: Celeron 1700MHz
RAM: 512MB
Video: GeForce 2 mx 200 with 32 MB RAM
Sound: AC'97 onboard audio
HDD: 10GB (500MB free)

I am well and truelly ou tof ideas and dont really want to reinstall Windows etc... just yet as I have lot of Data/software to backup and reinstall, along with training software that I cant reinstall past a certian date.

I have read something about running the game in a debug mod so that it logs everything, so I can hopefully find out what it is crashing on. I cant get this to work, it says it the document that I need to right click on the JASP.exe and select the "launch somthing" option. But I dont have this option. Is there a command line paramater to log the game or can I run the JASP.exe with a switch (eg: JASP.exe - log) that will cause it to log waht happens?

Any help in this would be greatly apprecaited.

Does it crash after about the same amount of time each time ?

It does sound like either the graphics card or the soundchip on the mb is overheating. There's a good chance the airflow through the PC may not be enough to keep the GC from overheating or heating up the inside of the machine (even with the side off) enough to cause the soundchip problems try having a desk fan blowing air at the machines insides.

Once I installed the Fan the temperature seemed to be fine, I didnt check the sound card for heat. I might try a different sound card and see if that make any difference.

OK, I'm using a different Sound card now and it doesnt seem to be having the problem, but I'll keep testing it, as it didnt lock up on some levels, but other levels it was frezzing every few minutes.

Anyway, I'll test it on the Hoth snow planet level as that was particuluarly bad.
