Yeah.  They reported it to Comcast and they're obligated to warn me.  What a bunch of losers.  You hear me, Paramount (copyright enforcement division), YOU SUCK!

I think TV networks should put all of their (current) programming online, in a streaming format, so people can watch their favorite shows whenever they want.  the networks should show 'last weeks' episode of every program, online, for just one week after it airs.  they would make a killing on internet advertising.  and for the audience, seeing 'last weeks episode' (especially for a show like Enterprise) would encourage people to tune in 'this week', if you take my meaning.  it would increase the fanbase for the regular TV broadcast.
I mean, its not like a tiny quicktime-version of Enterprise could possibly compete/compare to the HDTV broadcast anyways (so it wouldn't take business away from their TV distributors); and its not like the streaming-internet-version would be available on the web first (so it wouldn't take business away from their TV distributors).  in the end it can only serve to promote the 'new' episode each week on 'regular' TV.

and even if people manage to 'pirate' the stream, and save it to their HDD, and send it to their friends around the world .. in the end .. this would allow the networks to control the content of the .mpegs that are being tossed around in the first place (ie: they could contain commercials/ads/promos/whatnot)

just a thought...

-------------------

p.s
...and if the sites, where these streams are offered, can be made 'interactive/informative' (like DVD-extras) then HARRY LANG this might fall into your ballpark as 'director of interactive development'.
maybe you should be the one to pick up this ball and run with it :;): you might start an industry trend. or something.
cheers.

not a bad idea, but I dont see it happening unless the USG forces them to do that like they forced HD-TV and digital

it could just be done as a promo-gimmick, by UPN (or FOX or NBC or whoever)
just to "promote" the regular TV broadcast of any particular show.
not meant to replace it, by any means*
-----------------
I think for a show like ENT it would really help. because of the ongoing continuity, as soon as people miss an episode (or two) then they don't really care about missing another one. suddenly they don't have to rush home on time to watch TV anymore, because they already missed too much of the ongoing plot.

"I'll catch it in reruns"

but being able to 'catch up' on a weekly basis, would keep people interested in the show.  it would be easier for ENT to build its fanbase
-----------------
*(and the fact that its just a tiny little quicktime window,
would keep people interested in the 'official' HDTV broadcast)(hehe)
(its a 'win-win' scenario for all concerned)

UPDATE 07.19.04:  The guest appearance of Brent Spiner in Star Trek: Enterprise (mentioned below) has been confirmed by the studio.  He will appear in a three-episode story arc which will probably be the fourth through sixth segments of Season 4.

Thats great news
