Additionally, PunkBuster servers will be updated to signify whether kicks for Global bans are for PB GUIDs or the new Hardware GUIDs.

if they dare to even make the step to give a hardware GUID ban for every cheat (not only the PBhacking cheats like now), then cheaters are doomed to play against other cheaters only
This is a nice step on the way to less cheaters though...making the option of changing guids useless
I hope this really works ok, and that no innocent players will be victim by this. I mean, what if i have the same exact hardware config as that PBhacking dickhead? Or does hardware also have some sort of serial number that is stored on the computer??? (i dunno that)

yes every part on your system has a different "id" this id is being computed only 1 way using hashes so 2 players can not have same system config even if they have similiar parts. for more info and more about this read this thread http://www.punksbusted.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10045

Well I don't care for the extent that PB is now being used...sorry but at this point I would classify it as a trojan...thus I will not run it on my system...nor will I ever buy any games that come bundled with it.

i think ur thinking about it the wrong way nologic, players like u and me we do not care about why someone got banned, we are here to enjoy our game. if a player gets banned for whatever reason its not my concern nor i care or cry for that player, let that player worry. im disappointed somone like you sees this the wrong way. i think u should re consider. PB is doing the right thing and it has the support of many game companies.

hmm no I do care why some one gets banned...matter fact I care very much why and how its done. I don't enjoy the game any more ether...I actively stopped playing as soon as the Admin var checks got rolled out...then I hear after that you need to play with admin rights on a system in order for the software to work other wise you get the boot...now we have hardware spying and god knows what else.

I don't care for any of this at all.

My brother Steve has two copys of Q3A that he has global bans on...one win32 the other Linux...you maybe saying so what...well the fact is my little bro is the BEST gamer I have ever seen...he doesn't need cheats nor does he use them...yet he's got bans on both keys...the keys where probably generated by a keygen by some numbnut and then used with some sort of cheat(s). Thus why the keys are no longer good.

Now if you think in this day and age that these cheat hackers are not going to put a port sniffer on your system to grab your hardware hash and use it to send to EB instead of theirs, your out of your frailing mind. Thus if they are using your hash with a cheat...well have fun buying a new system.

Now keep in mind this is totally discounting any chance that EB could or would abuse the data that they gain from your system.

Well be disappointed all you want if some one doesn't stand up and point out the flaws in a system then the system becomes weak and those that live under that system will be crushed.

Really I could careless how many companys are behind this...or gamers ether for that matter. My thought and concerns are my own...and not swayed by others.

I simply do not agree with this move and see a lot of dangers going along with it.

what if someone has a not too good videocard and some of the screens look funky , but cant afford to have a better card BUT love the game and play a lot [not talking about pro players just regulars u know].

At this point PB isn't doing global bans for dumbed down graphic settings...thats a local ban per server if any thing.

Tho that wasn't some thing bannable prior...but a few updates ago to PB and its now become possible.

PB at this point I feel is going down hill...and fast at that...but thats my take on things. Others may and can feel differently about this...but I feel its wrong. Hence my stance and actions over this subject.
